The summary table on Betfred’s offer page groups the middle first-deposit bands a little differently, with R500 to R999 for 50 spins and R1,000 to R6,999 for 100, and it agrees with the bands above at both ends.
How the numbers work
- R100 first deposit: a R100 bonus and 20 free spins, and the 4 times rollover means R400 in bets at any odds within seven days.
- R2,000 second deposit: a R1,000 bonus at 50% and 50 free spins, which needs R4,000 in bets.
- R1,000 third deposit: a R750 bonus at 75% and 50 free spins, which needs R3,000 in bets.
- The full R21,000: it takes R30,333.33 of deposits across the three, and at most R10,000 can move to the main wallet from each of the three bonus wallets.
Worth knowing: bonus funds are for single bets only, so multiples and Bet Builder bets do not count towards the rollover.
Rules that decide how the bonus works
- Where it works: Sports, Horse Racing and Lucky Numbers. Betfred’s own summary says choose one team at any odds on sports, pick 2 to 3 numbers and leave out the bonus number in Lucky Numbers, and select one horse with no place or exotic bets in racing.
- Your deposit first: real money deposits are played through in full before winnings from bonus funds or free spins can be withdrawn.
- Odds: single or minimal bets below 1.5 decimal (0.5 fractional), including cashed-out bets, void the bonuses.
- Time: free spins expire after 72 hours, and bonus funds expire if they are not fully transferred to the main wallet within seven days of crediting.
- One set: each physical address, set of contact details or IP address gets one set of welcome bonuses, and Betfred can amend or end the offer at its sole discretion.

Apple’s guide adds that the icon appears only on the device where you add it. On Android and Huawei phones the same idea works from the browser menu.
Other Betfred apps you may see
Betfred’s UK product is a different app. The App Store lists Betfred Sports, Casino & Games from Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Ltd on the United Kingdom storefront, and the South African App Store and Google Play do not carry it. A Google Play search for betfred in South Africa lists four apps titled Betfred from other developers, and none is published by Betfred:

Sign-up and verification
Betfred’s FAQ gives three registration steps, and you need your identity number to hand. Only individuals over 18 can bet, and a customer may register and operate one account.
- Tap Join or Sign Up. The green Sign Up button sits in the top bar and a blue Join button in the bottom bar.
- Enter your details. The form asks for first name, surname, mobile number with the +27 country code, email address, identification type (SA Identity or Passport), ID number and a password, with a promo code field marked optional.
- Tick the box and create the account. One tick box covers being over 18, the terms and privacy policy, the approved payout methods and consent to SMS and email marketing, with an optional opt-out.
You log in with your email address or mobile number and your password, and a Forgot password link sits on the same page.
FICA documents
FICA is the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, the law that makes South African bookmakers confirm who their customers are. Betfred’s terms say being verified for FICA is one of the conditions of being eligible to bet, and they advise completing all FICA documentation early to prevent delays when withdrawing.
- Identity: valid identity documentation, a passport or other approved ID.
- Address: proof of residential address, and payment-account documentation where asked.
- Upload: Betfred’s FAQ has an Upload button and says documents must not be older than 3 months.
- Selfie: Betfred may ask for one as extra ID verification and holds a pending payment until the ID requirement is submitted.
- Enabling an account: the FAQ points customers to the call centre on Live Chat, email or 087 095 8862.
Until the verification Betfred requires is done, it may restrict betting, deposits, withdrawals or other account functions.
Using Betfred on a phone
The home page opens at betfred.co.za/page/welcome. A dark-blue strip of text tabs runs across the top (Sports, Aviator, Slots, Crash Games and Live Casino, then more that scroll sideways), and a blue bar below it holds a menu-and-chat icon, a light-blue Login button and a green Sign Up button. A rounded bar floats at the bottom with Sports, Casino, Lotto and Promos icons and a blue Join button.

The Betfred sportsbook
The Sports tab opens a sportsbook with a banner carousel, a Search box and the tabs Sports, In Play, Top Leagues, Price Boost, Outrights and Statistics. A row of price-boost cards sits above a sport strip, and on 29 October 2026 that strip held 40 sports with events, from Soccer, Rugby, Basketball and Cricket down to Squash, Speedway and Biathlon.
Sports and markets

Football betting tips
- Read the market selector: the 1X2 selector includes an XUP option, which settles a bet as a winner if your team leads by 1, 2 or 3 goals at any point in the match, on qualifying soccer matches.
- Combine in Bet Builder: pick between 2 and 10 markets from one fixture, and the more outcomes you include the higher the odds.
- Look at Price Boost: boosted multiples show the old price struck through, the new price and a percentage, such as 4.99 raised to 5.40 for +10%.
- Insure a multi: Soccer Multi Insurance pays up to 10 times your stake back as cash if you miss a multi-bet by one leg.
Bet Builder, cash out and system bets
- Bet Builder: offered on soccer and basketball.
- Early Cash Out: available on a multi-bet slip that has no losing legs, with the offered value worked out from current odds at the time of the request.
- Cash out limits: Betfred’s terms say it is offered at Betfred’s discretion, may not be available on every bet, event or market, and is not available on bonus fund bets or system bets.
