Betting Sites in South Africa 2026

The twelve betting sites on this page each hold a provincial bookmaker licence and take bets online in South Africa. That licence, from a board such as the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board or the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, is what allows a site to take your bets and hold your money, so check it before you look at the welcome offer or the app. The table below lists all twelve with the board and licence number, the welcome offer, and what each site is best for.

The checks behind each pick are on our how we rate betting sites page.

SA betting sites and their welcome offers

Each site gets its own section below, with the welcome offer and the conditions that decide what it is worth, then the licence, the ways to pay and the apps.

Betfred: up to R21,000 over three deposits

  • Welcome offer: up to R21,000 in bonus funds and 750 free spins over your first three deposits, for new customers.
  • Licensed by: the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, bookmaker licence 9-2-1-00039, held by Betting World (Pty) Ltd of Sandton.
  • How you get it: 100% of your first deposit up to R7,000, 50% of your second up to R7,000 and 75% of your third up to R7,000. The free spins are on Big Bass Bonanza and arrive within two hours of each qualifying deposit. On the first deposit that is 10 spins for R20 to R99, rising to 250 spins for R7,000 or more, and the second and third deposits have their own bands.
  • Money in: Visa and Mastercard through Walletdoc with Apple Pay, Capitec Pay, Ozow, SnapScan, Zapper, 1Voucher from over ten thousand outlets, OTT vouchers from over seventy-five thousand, Blu Voucher and Easyload.
  • Money out: EFT, a PIN by SMS for cash at any FNB, Nedbank or Standard Bank ATM, or cash at any of Betfred’s 60+ retail stores.

Betfred calls itself the Bonus King, and its welcome terms set out how the money works. Bonus funds have to be rolled over four times at any odds before they move to your main wallet, they expire if that is not done within seven days, and no more than R10,000 can move across from each of the three deposit bonus wallets. On a R100 first deposit you get a R100 bonus, and clearing it takes R400 in bets at any odds within seven days. Each batch of free spins expires 72 hours after Betfred adds it to your account.

If you top up with cash at a shop rather than from a bank account, Betfred takes 1Voucher, OTT, Blu Voucher and Easyload, and it pays winnings out as cash at FNB, Nedbank and Standard Bank ATMs or at its own stores. A withdrawal to a Shoprite MoneyMarket account cannot be taken out as cash from that account, so choose an ATM or a store if you want notes in your hand.

Betfred South Africa runs in your phone browser. Its FAQ says the site is fully web-based for now and suggests saving the website for easy access, and a search of the South African App Store for Betfred brings up no Betfred app. Save the site to your home screen if you want an icon.

World Sports Betting: best for racing

  • Welcome offer: three parts. A R25 free sports bet, 100 free spins (worth R50, spread over five named slots), and a first deposit match of 100% up to a maximum of R20,000. The deposit match needs a first deposit of at least R50, while the free bet and spins come when you opt in at registration.
  • Licensed by: the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, 10181495-013, and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, 9-2-1-09865.
  • Best Odds Guaranteed: on Saturdays, back a horse in a single bet on local racing, and if its starting price is bigger than the price you took, WSB pays the difference in free bets, up to R5,000 per account.
  • 2UP: back a team before kick-off on the dedicated 2Up match result market, and if it leads by 2 goals during regular time, WSB pays you out as a winner. It runs on selected competitions only.
  • Apps: an Android APK, an iPhone app on the App Store and a Huawei app on AppGallery, all linked from the WSB site.

The deposit match is paid in World Coins worth 10c each, and WSB’s terms say the bonus has to be wagered 5 times on sport or racing, or 30 times on live games or casino, before you can withdraw, with only bets at odds of 5/10 or better counting. WSB’s own example is a R500 bonus, which needs R2,500 in bets on sport or racing, or R15,000 on live games or casino. The R25 free bet can go on any sports bet, and the 100 free spins, worth R50 in all, expire if you do not use them within 48 hours.

World Sports Betting’s copyright line runs from 2002. Its regular offers include Best Odds Guaranteed on Saturday racing and 2UP, which can settle a soccer bet early, and the promotions page carries featured odds boosters on top.

Gbets: best for the regular weekly punter

  • Welcome offer: a R50 free bet and 50 free spins on Gates of Olympus once your account is verified, followed by four deposit matches that add up to R21,000. The first is 100% up to R10,000, split half sports and half casino, then 50% up to R3,000, 75% up to R3,000 and 100% up to R5,000, all three on casino. Each deposit needs to be R25 or more.
  • Cashback: up to 10% of your sports and casino losses, paid twice a week, on Mondays for Thursday to Sunday and on Thursdays for Monday to Wednesday.
  • Licensed by: the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, 10179096-014, issued on 25 November 2025, and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, 9-2-1-09553. Gbets is run by Dymanex (Pty) Ltd and calls itself the betting arm of Goldrush, whose group is owned by JSE-listed RECM Calibre.
  • Also on site: Lucky Numbers, live roulette and baccarat, and a Bet Builder for several bets on one match.
  • Apps: an Android APK from the Gbets site, an iPhone app on the App Store and a Huawei app.

The sports half of the first match, up to R5,000, has to be wagered 4 times on multis of 3 or more selections, each at odds of 1.50 or more. On a R1,000 first deposit you get R1,000 in bonus money, R500 for sport and R500 for casino, and the R500 sports half needs R2,000 in qualifying bets. The casino half carries 30 times wagering and the later casino matches 25 times, and every bonus expires 5 days after it is activated. The R50 free bet also needs odds of 1.50 or more on each leg. A second Gbets welcome page gives a different version, up to R16,000 in slot bonuses with the first deposit matched 100% up to R5,000 on slots only, so check which one your account shows before you deposit.

To qualify for the cashback you need to have deposited at least R1,000 and played in the period, and it is only paid once it reaches R100, so R1,000 of losses at the full 10% would bring R100 back.

Sportingbet: best for live soccer markets

  • Welcome offer: 100% of your first deposit up to R15,000, paid as cash in 10 equal parts as you complete the wagering, with selected extras on deposits of R200 or more. The deposit has to be R50 or more, made within 7 days of registering.
  • Licensed by: the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, through Greatodds (Pty) Ltd of Cape Town, operating under licence from Entain.
  • Launched: in South Africa in 2008, under the Sportingbet brand that Entain Operations Limited licenses to Greatodds.
  • Also on site: casino, live casino, the Aviator and Skyward crash games, and BetGames.
  • Apps: an official Android app and an official iPhone app.

Sportingbet’s wagering is 5 times on sport and horse racing at odds of 1.90 or more, or 20 times on casino games, and the bonus expires 60 days after it is credited. On a R100 deposit you get a R100 bonus, and clearing it on sport takes R500 in bets at 1.90 or more; on the full R15,000, each of the 10 parts is R1,500. The home page advertises a different offer, a Triple Welcome Bonus of up to R3,000 over three deposits, while the welcome package page carries the full terms, so check which one your account shows before you deposit.

For betting during a match, Sportingbet lists over 300 markets a game. Its 2Up offer can pay out early on pre-match singles and multis on the match result, Cash Out works on selected events, and Bet Builder takes two or more selections from the same match.

Easybet: best first account

  • Welcome offer: R50 and 25 free spins when you sign up, credited with or without a promo code, then 150% of a first deposit of R50 or more, with a bonus of between R75 and R5,000. A separate casino welcome gives 20% of a first deposit of R100 or more, up to R500.
  • Licensed by: the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, 10191733-004, issued 1 December 2025, plus the Eastern Cape Gambling Board under ECBM 029.
  • Apps: an Android APK, a data-free app whose download uses no data, an iPhone app on the App Store and a Huawei app on AppGallery. Slots and live dealer games only work on the main website, not in the data-free app.
  • Best for: opening an account with very little money in it.

The R50 arrives before you have put any money in, and it has to be wagered 3 times at odds of 3.0 or more, which is R150 in bets, on sport or Lucky Numbers only. The most you can withdraw from it is R300, and only after you have deposited at least R99 and bet R99 of your own money at odds of evens or more. The 25 free spins are worth 20c each.

For the deposit match you choose the sports bonus or the casino bonus, not both. Easybet’s own sports example: deposit R100, place R400 in sports bets at odds of 3.0 or more, and you receive a R150 bonus bet, and any bonus bet you have not used expires 14 days after it is credited. The casino route asks for bets of 15 times your first deposit on slots instead, and the separate R500 casino welcome carries 15 times wagering before its winnings can be withdrawn. The 150% rate is the highest match percentage in the table.

Supabets: best for Supanumbers and cash betting

  • Welcome offer: register and you get a R50 free bet with 100 free spins. Your first three deposits then each get a match, worth R5,000 between them: the first at 100% to R2,000, the second at 50% to R1,000, the third at 100% to R2,000.
  • Licensed by: the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, 9-2-1-00055, held by Portapa 2 (Pty) Ltd.
  • Also on site: Supanumbers, the Play Vegas casino and 1UP, 2UP and 3UP early payouts.
  • Shops: Supabets branches, listed in the store locator on its site, and vouchers from Supabets, OTT, 1Voucher, Blu and Kazang, sold in its stores and at selected retailers.
  • Apps: a data-free Android APK, and Supabets Mobile on the App Store for iPhone. The Huawei app is listed as coming soon.

The three deposit matches come on top of the R50 free bet and 100 spins: a R2,000 first deposit takes the first match to its R2,000 limit, and because the second deposit is matched at 50%, reaching its R1,000 limit takes a R2,000 deposit. Supabets caps withdrawals to Standard Bank at R5,000 a day and to an FNB eWallet at R2,500 a day, with a monthly limit of R25,000 for each client. The Android app downloads from the Supabets site because, as Supabets explains, Google Play does not carry real money gambling apps.

10bet: best for crypto deposits

  • Welcome offer: 100% of your first deposit up to R5,000, on a first deposit of R50 or more. Free spins are no longer part of it.
  • Licensed by: the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, licence 9-2-1-09661, through Edcobrite (Pty) Ltd of Cape Town.
  • Money in: Visa, Mastercard, Ozow, WalletDoc, 1Voucher, OTT, Pay@, and crypto in Bitcoin and Tether. Capitec Pay, cards and Ozow start from R10.
  • Apps: Android direct download, iPhone on the App Store, Huawei on AppGallery.

10bet’s promotions page gives the welcome as 100% up to R5,000, while the text further down its home page still says up to R3,000, so go by the promotions page and check the figure your account shows at your first deposit. On a R200 first deposit you get a R200 bonus. 10bet also pays 10% cashback on sports bets, up to R1,000, and its support team answers by live chat, email or phone around the clock. If you hold Bitcoin or Tether, 10bet takes both.

YesPlay: best for small deposits and Lucky Numbers

  • Welcome offer: 100% of your first deposit up to R3,000, and it starts from a R20 deposit.
  • Licensed by: the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, 10180204-013, issued on 26 November 2025 to SA Sportsbook (Pty) Ltd.
  • Also on site: Lucky Numbers, with 10% of your losses back the next Monday, plus casino games and slots, all run under fixed-odds betting rules.
  • Apps: an Android APK from the YesPlay site, an iPhone app on the App Store and a Huawei app on AppGallery.

YesPlay’s match starts from a R20 deposit, while World Sports Betting, Sportingbet, Easybet and 10bet each need R50 or more for theirs, so a R20 first deposit at YesPlay brings a R20 bonus. At the other end, a R3,000 deposit takes the match to its R3,000 limit.

Visit YesPlay

Interbet: best for horse racing

  • Welcome offer: a R25 spin bonus when you sign up, then your first deposit matched 100% up to R2,000, as a sport bonus or as a spin bonus.
  • Licensed by: the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, 10083472-023, held by Interbet International (Pty) Ltd of Cape Town. Also licensed as a manufacturer.
  • Built around: horse racing, with a racing exchange that charges no commission, and Soccer 6, Aviator and Numbers in the menu.
  • Best for: racing punters who want fixed odds and an exchange in one account.
  • App: a web app you install from Chrome on Android or add to your home screen from Safari on iPhone.

Interbet is a racing site that also takes sport. Its racing exchange sits next to the normal fixed-odds betting and charges no commission on exchange bets, and Interbet says its software is certified by the South African Bureau of Standards. The welcome is a straight 100% on the first deposit, so a R2,000 deposit takes it to the R2,000 limit, and you choose whether the bonus goes to sport or to spins.

Hollywoodbets: best for cash in and cash out

  • Welcome offer: a R25 sign-up bonus and 50 free spins for new accounts.
  • The R25 terms: it lasts 24 hours, needs odds of at least 5/10, and you turn it over once.
  • The spins: 60c each on Hot Hot Hollywoodbets, Hot Hot Fruit and Rainbow Mania, which is R30 of play. Winnings are wagered 10 times on those games, R600 is the most they can pay out, and the spins expire 24 hours after you claim them.
  • Licensed by: five provincial boards, including Western Cape 10000107-029, KZN BOM0092, Gauteng BRA-024, Mpumalanga 9-2-1-00051 and Limpopo 007-LGB.
  • Cash in and out: top-up vouchers sold at retailers and Hollywoodbets outlets across the country, crypto from R100 a deposit, and cash withdrawals at ATMs and retailers through Standard Bank Instant Money, FNB eWallet, Absa CashSend and Nedbank Send-iMali.
  • Apps: Android APK from the Hollywoodbets site, iPhone on the App Store, Huawei on AppGallery.

Hollywoodbets gives R25 and 50 spins rather than a deposit match, and the reason to choose it is the way money moves. You can buy a top-up voucher at a shop and take winnings out as cash at an ATM without a bank card, through four banks’ services where Betfred uses three. Hollywoodbets also has over 80 branches in six provinces if you would rather bet over a counter.

Both parts of the welcome offer run out 24 hours after you receive them, so claiming it on a Tuesday when you only bet at weekends wastes it. Claim it the day you plan to bet. Our full Hollywoodbets review goes through the cash withdrawal limits and the bank cut-off times.

Sunbet: best for accumulator players

  • Offers: acca insurance, a free bet back after a 90th-minute loss, 20% racing cashback and Boost Mode on BetBuilders, open once you have made a real money deposit. The Sunbet pages showed no sign-up deposit match.
  • How they pay: if one leg of a football acca loses, you get your stake back as a free bet; if a 90th-minute goal costs you the bet, you get half your stake back as a free bet; losing racing bets earn 20% cashback; and a winning football BetBuilder at 33/1 or more is paid at 100/1.
  • Licensed by: the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, 9-2-1-09789, and the North West Gambling Board, through Sunbet (Pty) Ltd of Sandton, the online brand of Sun International.
  • Also on site: slots, betting games and live table games.
  • App: Sunbet ZA on the App Store for iPhone, sold by Sunbet Pty Ltd.

Sunbet is the online brand of Sun International, and its offers are built for multi and racing punters. On a R100 football acca that loses by one leg you get a R100 free bet back, and on a R100 bet lost to a 90th-minute goal you get a R50 free bet. Sunbet’s promotion terms say the offers only apply once you have made a real money deposit.

Betway: best for cash out and live betting

  • Welcome offer: a Welcome Pack of 10 free spins on 12 Masks of Fire Drums, 10 free flights on Aviator and a R10 free bet. To get it, sign up and wager at least R50 on sport, in bets of at least 5 legs at total odds of 3.0 or more that are settled and not cashed out.
  • Licensed by: the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, 10181496-012, through Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd, and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, 9-2-1-09658.
  • Features: Cash Out, BetSaver, Win Boost of up to 300% on multi bets, Live In-Play betting and Tax Scratch on horse racing.
  • Money: sixteen ways in, including USSD and MTN Mobile Money, and six ways out, including eWallet, CashSend, Instant Money and 1ForYou.
  • Apps: Android APK from the Betway site, iPhone on the App Store, Huawei on AppGallery.

Betway’s Welcome Pack gives spins, flights and a R10 free bet rather than a deposit match, and it stays on your home page for 7 days after you register. The rest of what Betway offers is in the betting itself. Win Boost adds up to 300% on a multi bet, Cash Out lets you settle a bet early in the app, Live In-Play covers betting during a match, and Tax Scratch pays the 6% winnings tax on horse racing back into your account.

The Welcome Pack terms say you must be 18 or older and a South African citizen or permanent resident to take part, and the pack’s spins and flights can take 10 minutes to show in your account.

What each kind of bonus actually means

  • Deposit match: the site matches what you put in, up to a maximum. What decides its value is the minimum deposit that qualifies and how many times you have to bet the bonus before it becomes money you can withdraw: World Sports Betting’s own example is a R500 bonus that needs R2,500 in bets on sport.
  • Free bet: a fixed stake the site pays for. You keep the winnings and not the stake, so a R25 free bet at even money returns R25, not R50.
  • Free spins: casino spins at a set value each, from 20c at Easybet to 60c at Hollywoodbets, often with a limit on what they can win. Hollywoodbets’ 50 spins at 60c are R30 of play, and R600 is the most they can pay out.
  • Cashback: a percentage of your losses back on set days, such as Gbets’ up to 10% twice a week, 10bet’s 10% up to R1,000 on sports and YesPlay’s 10% on Lucky Numbers every Monday. It keeps paying after the welcome offer is used up.
  • No-deposit credit: money or a free bet in your account before you fund it, like the R50 at Easybet, the R50 free bet at Supabets or the R25 at Hollywoodbets and World Sports Betting. It lets you try a site before your own money is involved, though you may need to deposit before you can withdraw what it wins, as Easybet’s R99 rule shows.
  • Odds and winnings boosts: more than the normal price or payout on selected bets. Betway’s Win Boost adds up to 300% on multi bets, and World Sports Betting runs featured odds boosters.

How to choose the best betting site for you

  • Start with how you put money in. If you bet with cash, Hollywoodbets, Supabets and Betfred are built for you. If you use a bank account or a card, any of them will do.
  • Check the minimum qualifying deposit, not the maximum bonus. YesPlay’s match starts at a R20 deposit and Easybet’s R50 needs no deposit at all, while World Sports Betting’s R20,000 maximum needs a R20,000 deposit to reach.
  • Look at what the site gives you in week five. Cashback at Gbets and 10bet, Lucky Numbers cashback at YesPlay and acca insurance at Sunbet keep paying after the welcome offer has gone.
  • Match the sport to the site. Racing points to Interbet and World Sports Betting. Soccer points to Sportingbet and Betway. Lucky Numbers points to YesPlay, Supabets and Gbets.
  • Read the expiry before you claim. A 24-hour offer claimed on the wrong day is worth nothing at all.

Banking: putting money in and getting money out

The ways to pay in and take money out differ from site to site, so check that your usual way of paying is on the list before you sign up.

  • Cash at a shop: Hollywoodbets top-up vouchers are sold at retailers and its own outlets. Betfred takes 1Voucher, OTT, Blu Voucher and Easyload, Supabets takes Supabets, OTT, 1Voucher, Blu and Kazang vouchers from its stores and selected retailers, 10bet takes 1Voucher, OTT and Pay@, and Betway takes OTT, Kazang and 1ForYou vouchers.
  • Cash out of an ATM: Hollywoodbets pays cash withdrawals through Standard Bank Instant Money, FNB eWallet, Absa CashSend and Nedbank Send-iMali, at ATMs and retailers. Betfred sends a PIN by SMS for cash at any FNB, Nedbank or Standard Bank ATM, and Betway pays out through FNB eWallet, Absa CashSend, Standard Bank Instant Money and Nedbank Send-iMali.
  • Instant bank payments: Capitec Pay and Ozow are on Betfred and 10bet, Ozow is also on Betway, and Betfred takes SnapScan and Zapper, so you can pay from your banking or payment app without typing in card details.
  • Phone wallets and USSD: Betway takes sixteen ways to deposit, including USSD and MTN Mobile Money, and pays out through six.
  • Crypto: 10bet takes Bitcoin and Tether, and Hollywoodbets takes crypto from R100 a deposit.

Withdrawal times and limits depend on the site and the method. Hollywoodbets processes cash withdrawals within 24 hours of the request, subject to banking hours, and Supabets sets a daily limit for each bank and a monthly limit for each client, given in its section above, so check the limits at your site before a big bet.

Betting apps and mobile sites

Every site here works in a phone browser, and ten of the twelve also have an iPhone app on the App Store. On Android the apps are APK files from each operator’s own site, because, as Betway and Supabets explain, Google Play does not carry real money gambling apps, so your phone will ask you to allow installs from unknown sources, as Easybet’s app page says.

On a phone, swipe this table sideways for the iPhone and Huawei columns.

Live betting and cash out

Once your account is open, these features decide how a bet can be settled early, boosted or partly refunded, and they differ from site to site.

  • Cash Out: take a price on your bet before the match finishes. Betway offers it in its app, and Sportingbet on selected events.
  • 2UP: your soccer bet pays as a winner as soon as your team leads by two goals. World Sports Betting, Sportingbet and Sunbet run it, and Supabets adds 1UP and 3UP.
  • Best Odds Guaranteed: take an early price on a horse and get the difference if the starting price is bigger. World Sports Betting pays that difference in free bets on Saturday singles on local racing, up to R5,000 per account.
  • Bet builders: several bets on one match on a single slip. Sportingbet’s Bet Builder needs at least two selections from the same match, Gbets runs one too, and Sunbet’s Boost Mode pays a winning football BetBuilder of 33/1 or more at 100/1.
  • Accumulator insurance: Sunbet gives your stake back as a free bet when one leg of a football acca loses, and half your stake back as a free bet when a 90th-minute goal costs you a bet.
  • Racing cashback: Sunbet pays 20% cashback on losing horse racing bets, and Betway’s Tax Scratch pays back the 6% winnings tax on racing.

Betting on South African sport

Soccer carries the most offers on these sites, from 2UP to acca insurance, and Sportingbet lists over 300 live markets a game. Local football sits next to the European leagues, so check the site’s soccer page for the match you want before you deposit.

  • Rugby: Springbok tests, the URC and the Currie Cup are the local fixtures to look for, and handicap and winning margin are the usual rugby markets.
  • Cricket: the SA20 and Proteas matches are the local fixtures, with markets such as top batter and method of dismissal on some sites.
  • Horse racing: Interbet and World Sports Betting are built round it, with Interbet’s commission-free exchange and World Sports Betting’s Best Odds Guaranteed on Saturdays.
  • Tennis and golf: Sunbet’s sport promotions go beyond football, with half your stake back if a favoured tennis player loses in straight sets or a golf tournament leader loses a playoff.
  • Boxing, MMA and motor sport: World Sports Betting lists all three in its sports menu, and the site ran an SA Rugby Booster and a boxing booster among its featured odds boosters.
  • Lucky Numbers: you are betting on the outcome of lottery draws rather than buying a ticket. YesPlay, Gbets and Easybet run it, and Supabets has its own Supanumbers.
  • Aviator and crash games: Sportingbet, Interbet and Betway all carry Aviator, run under the same bookmaker licence as the sport. Spribe, which makes Aviator, gives it a return to player of 97%, which means that over a very large number of rounds R97 of every R100 staked is paid back.

FICA and getting paid

Licensed South African betting sites check who you are under FICA before they pay out. 10bet asks for your ID number when you register, Gbets pays its sign-up free bet only once your account is verified, and Hollywoodbets asks for a copy of your ID and can ask for proof of address. Send your documents when you open the account rather than when you are trying to withdraw, so a win is not held up while they are checked.

Use a bank account in your own name for withdrawals. Hollywoodbets, for one, pays withdrawals only to the account holder, as our review of it sets out.

Where the law stands

Sports betting and horse racing are legal in South Africa through a bookmaker licensed by a provincial gambling board, such as the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board or the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator. The National Gambling Board oversees gambling regulation across the country, and its list of verified operators is drawn from the provincial licensing authorities. Each site on this page names its board and licence on its own pages, most of them in the footer.

The licensed bookmakers run their casino games, slots and crash games as fixed-odds betting games. YesPlay says all its bets, casino games and slots included, follow fixed-odds betting rules, and the World Sports Betting and Betfred footers say every event is a fixed-odds betting game. If a site cannot show you a provincial licence number, it is not on the National Gambling Board’s verified list, so keep your money away from it.

The minimum legal gambling age in South Africa is 18. Winning horse racing bets carry a 6% winnings tax, which Betway pays back to its customers through Tax Scratch.

Who each betting site suits

  • Betway suits the person picking one account for the season, for Cash Out, Win Boost and Live In-Play. Look elsewhere if you want a deposit match, because the Welcome Pack is spins, Aviator flights and a R10 free bet.
  • Hollywoodbets suits anyone who bets with cash. Look elsewhere if you want a deposit match, because the welcome is R25 and 50 free spins.
  • Betfred suits the punter who wants a large offer and will deposit three times to get it. Look elsewhere if you want an app, because the South African product runs in the browser only.
  • Gbets suits a regular punter, for the twice-weekly cashback and the four-deposit welcome. Look elsewhere if you deposit less than R1,000 in a cashback period, because that is the minimum to qualify.
  • Easybet suits a first account with very little money in it. Look elsewhere if you want a maximum above R5,000.
  • World Sports Betting suits racing punters, for Best Odds Guaranteed on Saturdays and the featured odds boosters. Look elsewhere if you do not bet horses and will not deposit enough to use a large match.
  • YesPlay suits small deposits and Lucky Numbers players. Look elsewhere if you want a deposit match above R3,000.
  • Supabets suits Supanumbers players and people near a branch. Look elsewhere if you use a Huawei phone and want an app, because the Huawei app is still listed as coming soon.
  • Sportingbet suits soccer bettors who bet during matches, for its over 300 live markets a game. Look elsewhere if you prefer a local name with a shop network behind it.
  • Sunbet suits multi players, for the 90th-minute free bet and the acca insurance. Look elsewhere if you want a sign-up deposit match, because none showed on its pages.
  • Interbet suits horse racing first and everything else second. Look elsewhere if soccer is your main sport.
  • 10bet suits anyone depositing in Bitcoin or Tether. Look elsewhere if you want a match above R5,000.

How to sign up and claim a welcome offer

  1. Open the site on your phone with the Visit button in its section above, and tap Register or Join.
  2. Fill in your details and complete FICA verification with a copy of your ID.
  3. Read the welcome terms before you deposit: the minimum deposit, the wagering, the minimum odds and the expiry date.
  4. Make the qualifying deposit. Sportingbet needs R50 or more within 7 days of registering, while YesPlay starts from R20.
  5. Place qualifying bets until the wagering is done, and only then ask for a withdrawal.

Before you claim: expiry dates and a budget

Expiry dates differ a lot between sites. The Hollywoodbets R25 and spins last 24 hours, the World Sports Betting spins 48 hours, Betfred’s spins 72 hours and its bonus funds 7 days, the Gbets bonuses 5 days, Easybet’s bonus bets 14 days and the Sportingbet bonus 60 days. Claim an offer on a day you plan to bet, so the clock does not run out on it.

Decide how much you can afford to lose in a month before you claim anything, and keep to it, because wagering asks you to bet several times the bonus: Sportingbet’s R100 bonus needs R500 in sports bets at odds of 1.90 or more before it is all paid out.

How to place a bet

  1. Log in and open the sport, then the match you want.
  2. Tap the price of your pick to add it to the bet slip. Add picks from other matches for a multi, or from the same match for a bet builder where the site has one.
  3. Enter your stake on the slip, below your selections, as 10bet’s guide puts it.
  4. Check the slip, including the odds and the possible return, then confirm the bet.
  5. Follow it under your open bets, where Cash Out shows if the site offers it on that bet.

Customer support

10bet answers 24/7 by live chat, email or phone, and Betway says its customer service runs 24/7, 365 days a year. Hollywoodbets has a help line, email and live chat, and its app page lists 24/7 support. Before you contact a site about a deposit that has not arrived, have the amount, the bank you paid from and your payment reference ready.

Responsible gambling

Every site on this page is for over-18s only. Set a deposit limit that matches your monthly budget, and use a cooling-off period or self-exclusion if betting stops being fun: Hollywoodbets, for example, offers both, as our review of it explains. The National Responsible Gambling Programme runs a free helpline around the clock, and its number is in the box at the end of this page.

Questions about online betting sites in SA

Which betting site has the biggest welcome bonus?

Betfred and Gbets both go up to R21,000. Betfred spreads it over your first three deposits, up to R7,000 on each, with 750 free spins, and Gbets spreads it over four deposits, with the first split between sport and casino and the other three on casino. World Sports Betting matches a first deposit up to R20,000, paid in World Coins.

Can I open an account with R20?

Yes. YesPlay pays its deposit match from a R20 deposit, and Easybet gives you R50 and 25 free spins when you sign up, before you deposit at all.

Do I have to use an app?

No. Betfred South Africa is fully web-based, Interbet runs as a web app you save to your home screen, and the other ten work in a phone browser as well as through their apps. Android apps come as direct downloads from each operator’s own site rather than from Google Play, as the apps section above explains.

How long does a withdrawal take?

It depends on the site and the method. Hollywoodbets’ terms put cash withdrawals within 24 hours of the request, subject to banking hours, and Betfred sends a PIN by SMS for cash at FNB, Nedbank or Standard Bank ATMs. Every licensed site checks your FICA documents before it pays out, so send them when you register.

Can I hold accounts at more than one site?

Yes. Holding two or three accounts lets you take more than one welcome offer and compare the price of the same match in two places.

Which are the best betting sites in South Africa?

It depends on how you bet. Betway for one account used every weekend, Hollywoodbets if you bet with cash, Gbets for a regular punter who wants cashback twice a week, Interbet or World Sports Betting for racing, and Easybet or YesPlay for a first account with a small deposit. All twelve on this page hold a provincial bookmaker licence.

Are there new betting sites in South Africa?

Gbets, YesPlay and Easybet all show Western Cape licences issued in late 2025: Gbets on 25 November, YesPlay on 26 November and Easybet on 1 December. Whatever the site, check for a provincial board and a licence number on its pages before you deposit a cent.

Is my money safe on a licensed site?

A licensed site answers to its provincial board and appears on the National Gambling Board’s list of verified operators. The National Gambling Board asks punters not to gamble on any site that is not on that list, and a licensed site checks who you are under FICA before it pays out.

What is the legal betting age in South Africa?

You must be 18 or older. 10bet’s own page gives 18 as the minimum legal gambling age in South Africa, and every site on this page is for over-18s only.

What do I need to sign up?

Your name, phone number and ID number, which is what 10bet’s sign-up asks for, and a copy of your ID for FICA before your first withdrawal.
